There are so many tips on overcoming writer's block and unleashing creativity that we couldn't put them all in one post! Here are more to help you let your unconcious thoughts be expressed through art.
1) Take Risks - For every risk you take, you let yourself be more vulnerable to the world. That vulnerability in itself unleashes unconcious thoughts and ideas that you may have not been able to reach before. Creative risk taking opens someone up for ridicule, criticism and feedback. No matter how great one is at what they do best, risk taking puts them in a position to put aside the ego, see the whole situation from a diffrerent perspective and just TRY.
2) Make Mistakes & Learn From Them - In order to really get the ball rolling with creative thoughts, you need to keep trying different ideas and listen to your instinct to see what feels right. Everytime you feel like you made a wrong turn, check in with yourself, see how you feel, and try a different direction. There is no such thing as wasted time or failure if we can keep learning & letting ourselves grow.
3) Daydream - A 2012 study suggested that "[daydreaming] could actually involve a highly engaged brain state -- daydreaming can lead to sudden connections and insights because it's related to our ability to recall information in the face of distractions" (Huffington Post). Letting your mind wander can help in problem solving and being empathetic with others.
